Background and Objectives

-提升學生及公眾製作數碼地圖的能力和興趣;
-鼓勵教育機構、社區團體更多利用數碼地圖作為教育、連繫、研究及推廣等用途;

With the advancement of digital technology and AI, location-based tools have become increasingly widespread, and digital maps are now an integral part of our daily lives. These tools not only allow us to discover and share local knowledge and foster community engagement, but they can also be developed into products for social services or entrepreneurship. However, currently, most people are merely users, with few actively contributing content, designing, or managing these platforms.

In light of this, we are organizing a digital map creation competition and cordially invite primary and secondary school students, as well as members of the public, to participate in small teams (2–5 people). Teams are encouraged to select a theme closely related to themselves and the broader community to create a digital map.Since the relevant technology is not yet part of the school curriculum, the organizers will provide instructional modules—covering location-tagging tools, topic selection, and data collection—to students interested in participating. These modules will be delivered through workshops to help them form teams and join the competition (see Attachment 1 for details). In addition, the organizers will offer tutorials and online Q&A sessions to encourage public participation.

We hope the competition will achieve the following objectives:
-Foster a culture of independent learning in digital technology;
-Enhance the capabilities and interest of students and the public in creating digital maps;
-Encourage educational institutions and community organizations to make greater use of digital maps for educational, networking, research, and promotional purposes;
-Showcase the diverse facets of Hong Kong society to the public through the submitted entries.
